Happy weekend farm friends!

This week’s box included 2 varieties of lettuce, Green Oak (Tega Hills) and Red Romaine (Bush N Vine). The growing season is short for lettuce, as it is heat sensitive. We will include bonus lettuce while available. Tega Hills grows hydroponic lettuce year round so we can provide it through the summer months.

We thought photos might help identify the many spring greens in this week’s farm box:

Green Garlic –not green onions (Small City Farms) garlic before it reaches maturity – more delicate in taste.

Spinach (Bush N Vine) This is a new spring variety and perfect for pastas or salads

If you marked greens favorable we included Swiss Chard or Kale, both of which can be used in this super easy recipe below:

Swiss Chard (Small City Farms) long white stalks

Kale(Small City Farms) curly leaves

We were so excited to include asparagus this week to all who requested it. It is from Rhodesdale Farms in Kings Mountain, which is a no spray farm. The asparagus is wonderful raw, steamed or try it in the attached recipe from one of our farmers, which also calls for green garlic and spinach! We will have more asparagus in two weeks, so if you’d like to give it a try just let us know!

Enjoy your weekend and your fresh veggies!

Blessings,

Wendy & Beth
