Did everybody find the sweet surprise in this week’s box?! We were so thrilled to stumble upon a brand new crop of locally-grown winter strawberries from York, SC. They are, as one customer put it, DIVINE… We gave just a taste to everyone—as the crop comes in more, we will give out more! (Warm weather, keep it coming!!)
Enjoy your boxes loaded with winter fruits and vegetables – along with the strawberries, there were collards, kale, turnips, arugula, herbs (rosemary, dill, sage, and parsley), sweet potatoes, white potatoes, tomatoes, pink lady, matzu, and cameo apples, onions, and broccoli. (Each box may vary based on how favorably you marked each item on your survey.)
PS… for an impressive, yet easy, side dish, peel and dice sweet potatoes and turnips. Toss in olive oil, salt, pepper, herbs and balsamic vinegar and roast in the oven, tossing every 15-20 minutes until tender and caramelized.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! We’ll drop by again with more local produce on December 8.
Blessings,
Beth and Wendy
