Our farm box this week was built with our fruit-loving customers in mind! Of course this time of year, we’ll always have local apples from Deal Orchards in Taylorsville, NC. And if you were a customer of ours last year, you know that the winter season brings us winter strawberries – the best kind of strawberries—locally grown from Bush N Vine in York, SC. But this week, and possibly in the weeks to come, we were able to source from a farmer who makes frequent trips to Florida to bring in citrus this time of year! The blood red navel oranges are juicy and sweet, and we are happy to be able to offer them to you. They may not be as local as our other produce, but we’re not certain you’d want oranges if they were grown in these parts!

Did you know that we recycle our boxes? We reuse them to make deliveries to you – so if you have a stock pile of boxes in your closet, attic, garage, or even worse, bedroom, give them up! We’ll put them right back in rotation. And did you know that we also recycle any clean, unstained egg cartons. (Explains the old expiration dates and the Harris Teeter brands on some of them!) Many of you set these out for us already and we thank you! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! (Btw, in case you’ve ever wondered if you’ve kept eggs too long, just see if they float in a bowl of water – if they float, they’re filth! If they sink, they’re safe!)

Thanks everyone! Enjoy your local produce — it’s dinnertime!

Blessings,

Beth & Wendy
